On January 23, 2017, the Burlingame Planning Commission will hold a meeting to determine the scope of the resubmitted Peninsula Wellness Community plan. The plan has been resubmitted because the District has to revise the project site plan to accommodate the FAA flight path requirements for the new helipad at Mills Peninsula Hospital. In response to the high demand for housing, 100 units of housing were added and there will be an additional 100,000 sq.ft. for professional offices and senior support services.
The District is in the process of selecting development partners for the Peninsula Wellness Community. The Board will be reviewing several proposals and expects to make a final selection in the Spring of 2017. Development partners will fund, build, and operate the community’s senior housing, health support facilities, professional working spaces, and publicly accessible open spaces. The District will specify the details of the operation of the various facilities and retain control of the use of the land as a community health benefit.
In the Winter and Spring of 2017, we will continue our neighborhood meetings and discuss design guidelines for the project’s architecture and landscaping, traffic and parking plans, and for the design of a neighborhood pocket park.
